Event ticket refund - does this sound dodgy?

Hi all, just after some opinions on a situation I've found myself in!
Back in August I bought tickets for a fun run type event organised by a company called Golazo Cycling. Tickets were £25 each and I paid online by debit card.
Yesterday, 5 days before the event, they sent an email saying they've had to cancel due to not meeting their minimum number requirements. They've offered three ways to get a refund: defer to their next event next summer, send them your address and they'll send you a cheque, or send them your bank account details and they'll do a bank transfer.
Could just be my cynical mind but the whole thing has got me suspicious. I've emailed them saying I'm not happy with any of their refund options and want them to refund my card. Does anyone know if I can legally insist that they refund the payment the way it was originally made?
Thanks very much.

sounds ok to me, nothing dodgy going on, just give them your bank details, it is not as if they are asking for your pin number.0

It's likely they will just be depositing the money directly into your account via a bank transfer. If you are not keen on giving your account details then send them your address for the cheque.0

If you send them your bank account details they can only put money in, not take it out. It's perfectly safe. Why don't you like the options?0

The info they want is on every cheque you have ever written, so if you are still not happy to give it you should also tear up your cheque book.0

And it is on the debit card. I doubt the OP will be back as they probably realize they were being a bit silly0

OP's only other post was in January 2013, so I suspect you may be right.0
