With the airport expansion decision coming up later today, one needs to wonder if we really do need extra capacity in the short term?
According to IATA, a 'hard' brexit would lead to an imminent loss of demand.
I believe there's a case to be made to hold off on any expansion decisions until we know what kind of brexit we'll get. If it's a hard one, maybe 1 runway will suffice.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/oct/18/hard-brexit-reduce-need-airport-expansion-heathrowIata’s 20-year Passenger Forecast says that a hard Brexit will exacerbate an imminent loss in demand and leave passenger traffic around 8-9% below that resulting from a soft Brexit – the “most benign but arguably least likely scenario”, according to Iata.

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Compiled by the usual naive fools that have not taken into account the huge power we hold in the negotiation that will OBVIOUSLY meann trade will not be put at risk.
Our out sized military and security contribution alone are enough to ensure trade will not be compromised, the EU needs us, and needs us bad.
Quite Bizzare that so called experts can be so dense and narrow.0 -
Even as Heathrow expansion has now been approved it will likely be years before they even begin building the damn thing, so there's no 'short term' about it.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Yes let's stop all investment and go live in caves.0

Unfortunately this is very true, no point sitting on our hands on this one any longer than we have to as the process is likely to be hugely time consuming.0 -
Plus I can guarantee these 'experts' have not factored in the last three months large surge in visitors to the UK, on the back of the cheaper pound.
Jet 2 are hiring an additional 1000 staff and opening new routes, so they see an expanding airline sector ahead.0 -
its been approved, so people cant be that worried about the Brexit stuff
Its good media fodder, this Brexit fear agenda, but often the reality just shines through a bit, which contradicts what the papers (Guardian) say0 -

Please stay on topic.
Jet2 is a budget airline flying unwashed, toothless and drunken brexitoids from mainly northern hellholes to Ibeefa and Aiya Napa.
Nothing to do with Heathrow expansion.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
Well done Theresa, where Cameron, Brown, Blair and Major bottled it, you've grasped the leadership nettle.
What a great time to be British. I see the Swedish Finance Minister is very worried Swedish exports to UK have tumbled, and is calling for a good trading deal for the UK. The Swedish Chambers Of Commerce are saying real jobs will be lost if trade is hampered*
In the meantime UK exports are booming - JUST WHAT WE ALL WANTED ALL ALONG, instead of mindless consumption and selling one another houses, rejoice.

Do you honestly not believe the data clearly showing a marked increase in tourism into the UK?
Or that these tourists spend money in the UK?
Or that a reduced £ encourages further growth of inbound tourism?0 -

I don't believe there is - seems a bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Heathrow is a WORLDWIDE hub.
Why delay crucial expansion to our infrastructure "just incase" something (that something being completely unknown) happens?
For all you go on about people being stupid, ignorant and idiots by delaying buying houses just incase prices fall (which, remember is a tiny minority of people), you go on to state the above?0
