Third viewing from next tenants??

Can someone please tell me if I'm being unreasonable?

I have bought my first house and therefore leaving my current rented accommodation. I gave my landlords way more notice than required and I was very accommodating and helpful with two sales viewings (they initially put the house up for sale and then decided to relet) and then again with approx 9 different lettings viewings. The couple my landlord chose to be their next tenants then wanted to do a second viewing to measure the living room for their furniture, which I accommodated. While they were here I offered for them to look around the rest of the house again and/or measure other rooms but they declined and said they only needed to know the living room measurements. This was a few weeks ago.

I had a voicemail earlier today from the letting agents asking me to let them know my availability this week so the new tenants can view the house again to take more measurements. I am really annoyed! But I don't know if I'm being unreasonable?

There are boxes all throughout the house and it's a bit of a mess (clean but just messy because I'm packing, sorting through stuff, etc). I work full time, I'm trying to sort stuff out for my move and I'm a little stressed! I should complete on my house Friday, I'm having a snagging survey Monday and lots of furniture delivered Tues and properly moving in on Wednesday. Once I've moved I'm happy to meet them back at the house when it's empty for them to take measurements or I can do the measurements and send them to the new tenants or the letting agents, but I don't know if they'll be happy with this.

I feel I've been totally accommodating with all the viewings, accomdated the second viewing for this couple, and purposely encouraged them to take more measurements at that second viewing so that they didn't have to come back! Do you think I'm within my rights to refuse to accomodate a third viewing until next Thursday? Or am I being unreasonable? Be honest.

Just say no. You've been reasonable, enough is enough

I would say that you are within your rights to refuse the 3rd viewing until next Thursday. You've been accommodating. I posted a thread earlier about how my landlord's response to me not agreeing to a specific viewing appointment resulted in them threatening to just enter my flat against my will using their own set of keys. At least your landlord is by the sounds of it being quite civil. I'd imagine he or she will respond favourably to your request.
  • I think you've been more than reasonable, just explain it's not a convenient time for viewing or measuring at the moment because of packing and boxes everywhere. If you let them know you plan to be out by a certain date they should be happy to accommodate this and arrange the viewing for afterwards.

I wouldn't worry if they'll be happy with this, they've had one more viewing than I ever had when renting a property! One viewing and I was in. Second viewings are a rarity when renting, a third must be near unheard of! They've just been disorganised and that's their problem. Concentrate on you and try to stay calm, they can view after you've moved or if you're feeling particularity generous, send the measurements to the agent as you suggested.

House buying and moving is extremely stressful and emotional, I know all too well! Be selfish, you've earned it ;)

I'd let them, shouldn't make a difference to you if you're home anyway does it? There's no need to move anything, clean or tidy. It's a practical visit, not house guests. They can measure around your stuff.
  • Take 2 days to reply, then reply saying you'd be happy to accommodate and will get back to them with a suitable date very shortly. Then get back to them 2-3 days later suggesting Thursday.
