    Oh there is.....

Confirmation that the stated wages are actually real..

Confirmation the the regular full rent payments are both: (surely a landlord would never say they are great payers just to get rid of bad payers would they...)

Confirmation that all those benefits they've told you about are actually being paid to you

It's surprising what you can learn from looking at a bank statement... look at your own and learn (I'm not talking about the 3 areas above...)

True and I did caveat by saying a redacted statement would show the above. The rest of course is gravy for the LL and has no benefit to the tenant. ( I guess I worded poorly before).

To be fair mine is very limited since I deal with cash in 99% of transactions.

The best you'll see is a few receipts for supermarkets and my phone bill & car insurance :)
  • And probably large supplies of tinfoil.

Buy those in cash, so the government doesn't know that I know.....

Do you provide your tenants three months bank statements to make sure you are paying the mortgage and other bills?

If tenants don't ask for this info, LLs are unlikely to supply it. Doesn't mean the LLs are shady, just that they haven't been asked.

To the landlords/letting agents who check bank statements: would an agreed overdraft be a problem for you?

It doesn't really matter if living in your agreed overdraft is an issue for the landlords who post on this board. It only matters what this prospective landlord thinks about it.
