In my area - smallish town nowhere near London, garages rent for around £7 a week.

Hi I have a garage which I don't use. It's in the development where my flat is. All the garages are joined together. It's not in London.

Is it realistic/easy to rent as storage space for someone? How much could I charge a month? The flat is leasehold.

I thought that money could over pay my mortgage or go to hot dinners:j

    Thanks

i've just been paying £30/month for a lock up garage just down the road from my house. rented it through an agency.

I'd say congrats, here's a link to HMRC self assessment. :)

And I'd hope you don't come back in 2 months time having had it raided by the police as a cannabis farm ;)

Seriously though, you need to check your lease, get liability insurance and create a proper commercial lease.
I had 5-6 messages in the first day. May take to highest bidder:beer:

    Did someone mention only £30:p

Like I say, just make sure you have all the legalities sorted.
  • My son charged £50 for six weeks, it is a garage in a block as you described, West Midlands. The car was in there for the full six weeks (i.e. not taken out) because the owner was abroad.

Just watch out for your tenant moving half a dozen bunk beds in.:D

  • Couple mentioned about storing cars. Like I said, nice area = expensive/classic cars and people will pay. I should have trusted my own instinct instead of the innate pessimism that's ingrained in the mse forums :p

So you've rented it out? How much are they paying?
