Insurance claim time limit?

Hi all
About six months ago my car was hit when I wasn't in it. I travel between East Midlands and London a lot and I hadn't noticed the damage to my car until I tried to open the boot one day and it wouldn't open. I sometimes go for weeks without having to use the boot so I have no idea when or where my car was hit.
Had it checked out and the car was damaged but wasn't unsafe in any way so I decided not to bother making a claim at the time.
Car is on PCP and I don't know if I want to keep it at the end of the term any more so I'm wondering if I should have it repaired on insurance as otherwise I'll end up owing money as it's likely to be worth less than the GFV at the end of the term.
Anyone know if there's a time limit for claiming on insurance?
I reported it to the police but unfortunately because of how little information I had they couldn't do anything.
Cheers

You'd need to look at your policy documents for what it says about making a claim for your own damage.
Your insurer will ask for when it happened, and how it happened though.
Have you been with the same insurer the whole time? As if you've changed insurers since, they might bounce the claim back to each other if you can't give them the date the damage occurred.0 -
Your insurer may ask why you didnt notify them of the incident sooner.
