Hi guys,
Bit of a strange one here.
I've got a 5 year pug, who (Very thankfully) hasn't really had all that much wrong health-wise.
We've always played it safe and decided to insure him with Pet Plan's Insured 4 Life policy (on the advice of a friend).
Now, we're looking at relocating back to Ireland to settle down, but it seems that Pet Plan will/do not cover us in different countries. And if we go with another insurer, we will lose any cover for pre-existing conditions (we had one instance of Mast Cells that needed surgery).
I don't see that we can do anything about this - we need to insure him, and we can't stay in the UK, but it seems crazy that we can't continue our policy in some way or other.
Does anyone have any advice on this?
Thanks,
C

Only option is to take out a policy from an insurer based in / that covers Ireland.0

I think you're probably right. Damn it.
Does anybody know how previous mast cell treatment goes down as prior illness? Is it each instance, or am I unable to cover my Pug for future mast cell issues, do you think?0 -

There can also be licensing and tax issues.
Best to try an insurer in Ireland and explain the issue. Maybe suggest covering pre-existing conditions but with a higher excess. They might not entertain you but stress you are having to change insurer rather than choosing to.0 -
Not a recommendation but ALLIANZ who underwrite Petplan have pet insurance in Ireland.

I don't know if you could negotiate any ongoing cover since it is the same underwriter.0
