As above, I'd forget about trying to sell the shares - even if they were notionally worth anything then she'd have to find a buyer.
Hence my recommendation of pursuing a misconduct complaint against the IFA firm - are there principals at this company above the one who gave the apparently dodgy advice?
I'm not sure that paying another IFA would necessarily help, perhaps CAB? Or you might get some help from posters on here who can often navigate through complex situations, but I fear that you'll need to provide either or both of the name of the IFA and the property company, which I appreciate you probably don't want to do....
One last point - you mentioned in your OP that "She hasn't seen any money" but unless there was any expectation of dividend payments then why would she have anticipated seeing any money merely by owning shares, were there any commitments given by the IFA?0 -
1. Before you think of going to any IFA, it would be wise to look on the citizens advice website. Something there could be of interest. Use the search box. There is a section about IFA's.

2. Perhaps you could visit a local citizens advice office.

3. If the amount of money is sufficiently large, then finding a solicitor who specializes in this area could be the correct path.

4. Maybe BBC's "Rip Off Britain" could help. Last week they were asking people to send in problems to them. Perhaps you could try the "Watch Dog" program instead.
I hope the above will be of help.0 -
If anyone offered you shares in a business involved in Spanish property, with a company name you've never heard of would you invest?
Ahhh, but it's been offered by an IFA. Thst must make it more attractive.
All IFAs are very well qualified, honest so in reality it should be good, shouldn't it.
Let us all know how it goes, maybe the salesman wasn't an IFA.
Good luck fj0 -
@bigfreddiel Sarcasm isn't helpful. This kind of answer is pretty !!!!!!, tbh. Might as well have not bothered at all.0
