Any recommendations for a replacement for WD media box?

I have to get a new box for a friend.
It HAS to be as simple to use as the WD, so no Android boxes. I've tried that already and he can't understand it. (he's about as untechy as it's possible to be).
It has to connect to a couple of 1tb wd hd's.
No need of 4k, just standard HD output over HDMI.
Anyone suggest something?
Thanks...

Why no android boxes? Plug them in and wait for it to boot and a SIMPLE KODI menu appears or other media player and it lists your TV shows and Films and Music. Select the category and your files are listed.
I have a media PC and its going to be replaced with a raspberry PI soon.
I keep switching back and forth, but only because the PC has a lot of data stored on it that i have not transferred to my NAS.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
