Is a rewire needed?

The middle fusebox has actually had it's fuses replaced with circuit breakers. I had the exact same arrangement in my current property when I moved in.
The only comment I'd make on it's safety is that the middle fusebox will have no RCDs, only MCBs, which may be a concern.
As of 1st jan this year, new installations need to have the fusebox made of non-combustable material, which is *generally* taken to mean that they should be made out of metal.
As others have noted, as long as the wiring is PVC sheathed and not rubber, that's the major concern. Wiring pre 2005(ish- can't remember the exact year) was red and black, for live and neutral now it's brown and blue.There's absolutely nothing wrong with the older colours.0 -
