Worcester Greenstar Heating Won't Stay Lit

Hi All,

I have a Worcester Greenstar 30Si combi boiler that I've not used for heating for several months. It has an automatic spin up feature for when the heating is off to keep everything working over the summer. I've been using it for hot water continually fur ng this period.

Now its getting cooler I turned the heating on earlier but nothing happened. I checked the thermostat, water pressure but all seems fine. The small green heating light for radiators is on but its not firing up and the wireless receiver shows a solid green light showing that its requesting heat from the boiler but its not working.

Holding the reset button makes it fire up and I can hear the thump as the gas ignites but then the fans/pumps seem to slow down and it goes off after about a minute. A few times its not lit at all after pressing reset. I've read all the manuals and can't see what the issue is.

Pressing the maintenance (spanner) button makes the boiler fire up and work normally and the radiators get hot, but I'm worried using that feature all the time is unsafe.

Does anyone know what the issue is here?

My WB failed at the same time last year, most days it failed to ignite in the morning when prompted to by programme - but I could then reset it and it was OK. It had just come out of warranty, but my installer managed to get WB out to look into it. They replaced the ignition, the gas valve and a flap on the exhaust. Whatever it was, it fixed the problem and worked throughout winter. So far its still working this year.

Thanks, very informative, but I think an engineer is needed.

I appreciate the link you sent, some similar issues there yet no clear cause...
