Thanks for all of your replies!! I put the ‘wait until the spring and use grass seed (that we already have)’ to the husband and he is considering it. The guy we are getting a quote from said we would be hard pushed to find some this time of year anyhow but we will see what he comes back with and at least we know what is what for decisions for the spring. You are right re dog and children. My son is still playing out there as there are patches of grass but I’m sure that will tail off once it gets rainy. What I have learned re the dog is the mud dries off and can be swept up and the floor can easily be mopped. It won’t be that bad after Christmas as I will be around more to take him for more walks so he won’t be out the back as much. Lots of food for thought thanks!!

I’m supposed to be doing yoga in my bedroom (as there is space to roll out my mat woohoo!) and I have done a few stretches but been looking at storage solutions for a few of our current issues. As I have had space to myself to think I have thought up a solution that involves swapping some furniture around (with the husbands approval) and no immediate buying of furniture!! We will need to sort out some coat hooks or a coat stand of sorts I should imagine.

I got my credit card bill in the week and saw that I’m currently being charged £37 of interest a month - out of my £100 payment - that has to change!! I had an email from my bank inviting me to get a 0% credit card with them so shall investigate that this week.

Still no internet or land line though which makes all that sort of stuff difficult!!

Right, think I’m gping to wander back downstairs, pour myself a glass of wine and discuss storage with the husband before dinner.

Hopefully completing on the purchase of this house tomorrow which means we can finally see what is what with the money and make some decisions!

Yes we have now completed!! Thanks for the best wishes!! I’m emotionally and physically drained.

Still no internet or phone though which is frustrating. I’ve been keeping up with the finances and everything is looking ok but I’m still waiting for a bill to come in so not 100% sure how much we will be left with.

Now the move is pretty much done my thoughts are turning to Christmas so must make a start on that today.

I also realised that December is a 5 week month which will make the food budget right but I might be able to make some meals out of stuff I have left in the cupboards.

Right - better get on with it and get the children ready for school.

    Morning all

I have internet and phone now so normal life has resumed!!

I forgot to say that the swap of furniture went down well with the husband and is currently in the process of being sorted meaning we won’t have to spend money on furniture for the children’s bedrooms for a bit!!

I’m off Christmas shopping this morning. First to sains armed with £20 of nector points and then to the garden centre. I’m going to stick to my plan of £1 stocking fillers - maybe £2 if it is something particularly useful. I looked through my book collection last night and found 5 books I have neither read nor opened so I’m giving them back to myself as gifts this Christmas!! Ha ha! Will keep the costs down.

Husband is taking son to get new school shoes today as he has grown out of his old ones - something for the eBay pile!! I’ve also got a big ticket item for this pile too!!

Now we have a phone I’m and internet I’m writing a list of things for the husband to get sorted like - pay the hmrc bill and transfer is credit card balance so it’s all at 0%.

I’m also working on our new year financial goals which I am breaking down into quarterly ones. Several things will effect them so can’t finalise them just yet.

We also have a list of must haves for the house we need to purchase including...

    - blind for kitchen £50
    - larger dog crate £30 ish
    - curtains and pole for the study £50 ish
    - tie backs for the living room curtains
    - desk for the study for my new line of work £50
    - Christmas presents - I’m looking ahead to what we will need for the year ahead.
    - a number sign for outside

There is probably more but they are the big things. Husband needs to coat up the bathrooms and we still have an outstanding bill to pay of circa £1000 which is all budgettes for.

Now we have a phone I can sort out our utilities and get them sorted.

Lots to do lots to do!
