Hello everyone!
I have read many diaries over the last year and finally feel ready and in a position to start my own
My world consists of me (27) and OH (35) plus a mad 2 year old springer!
When me and OH met we both had thousands of debt between us, mine being around 7k and his 16k. Due to a reimbursement from work and some money left by my grandmother meant i was able to pay the majority back, leaving me with 2k left on a credit card which is always 0% (something i have learnt from this site!).
We are lucky that with our wages we have a good surplus (700) which are able to throw at this debt. OH started a DMP a year ago and is paying £40 a month back.
He has four creditors which have all defaulted and been sold on:
CC1 - 3163
CC2 - 3453
Loan - 7878
Overdraft - 1557.
I have a CC with 1000 on it but no defaults of any kind
We have recently offered a settlement figure to the overdraft which has been accepted and all finalised - paid 616.56 and have written word the account has been settled.
Some of you may be thinking why only pay £40 into a DMP when we have a large surplus each month. We are now beginning a fertility process into finding out why we are not conceiving and did not want to tie all our money into a DMP but would rather save the money seperate. This way we can offer settlements too
Another goal is to save a emergency fund, which will only take a month and half. I do not have YNAB but i do have a very detailed spreadsheet which i use regularly, and also use envelopes for entertainment, petrol and food shopping money which works great!
I am committing to this diary now as the last couple of months i have fell off the wagon with little unnecessary expenditures and really don't want this continuing. I have recently got a new job which will be starting on thursday, i am moving from a community job to a one setting job which will be great in saving petrol and I won't be able to nip to the shops during the working day whilst out and about!
Now my diary states 6 years as i have a 6 year plan:
1) completely clear debt - which with 700 every month should be gone within 23 months.
2) Hopefully fall pregnant and start our family
3) Save for house deposit
4) save a decent emergency fund.
I will hopefully stay on the wagon by having atleast 10 NSD's and in january starting the 1p a day challenge again which i started earlier this year and failed
Sorry for the long post! Hope to hear from you guys soon

Had quite a productive month so far:
Changed to a water meter and both water bills have practically halved. compared pet insurance and managed to change it from £15 to £3 a month!
I have 'pots' within my bank account in which money is transferred into each one after pay day. The pots are:
Debt repayment
Christmas/birthday - £50
car maintenance - £50
Holiday - £50
Nursing annual fee - £10
I have just bought my first Christmas present which was on QVC for half the price todayso that's a great start!

Thank you! Happy new diary to you, I will have a look at yours
I never imagined I would need to go down this route, i suppose when you have that discussion about starting a family no one ever thinks it would take so long or that you would need help!

Hi Everyone!
Today has been a NSD so that's great, it's payday tomorrow for me however when i have checked my payslip its less than i expected. After investigating further as to why that's because i am leaving my job on the 26th oct and normally pay goes to end of the month so i am 3 days short.
It just means we are going to have to put 500 in savings and not 600, and be very strict this month!
Feeling positive though and cannot wait to start new job on 27th!

I am working today so going to be a NSD
It's my last two days at work today and tomorrow but I am just in can't be bothered mode now! My brain left the job as soon as I knew I got my new one!

Day 1 of the month and it's been a NSD so that's fab! Tomorrow won't be however as petrol and food shop is needed
We budget £150 for food shop and always use aldi, and cook from scratch. Looking to fine tune this though as some monbts we go over and it's just unnecessary spending!
Going to invest in a slow cooker this month which I know is a spend but a good investment, I've been looking for second hand ones which are like new.
Ta ra for now xxTesco Loan - 91770
