Home Hub 6 (smart hub)

Just had one delivered and its all set up and working. All receivers are logged in ok. What I do find is that there is a distinct lack of range, marginally more than the home hub 3 it replaced. I believe I have it set up ok but feel I must have missed something. I was hoping to be able to use my lappy at the end of the garden, about 120 ft from the router with 1 single brick wall and 1 cavity wall in between. I did not believe the helicopter bit but hoped it would at least be an improvement on the HH3.
Any suggestions on how to extend the range?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
