Made to measure clothes

Hello - I have ordered made to measure clothes from an online retailer. The problem is they are so badly cut as not to fit.
It was a bit out of context and I don't know why the company was so quick to quote EU law in response to a query to say: "there is an exception for made to measure clothes in the law for the right of withdrawal in respect to distance and off-premises contracts. See article 16 - C under the exceptions for the right of withdrawal."
The company also provides this guarantee: "If, against all odds, a garment should not fit well, we will provide measurement advice so you can have the garments adjusted at a local tailor, alternatively we will sew a new garment for you – 100% perfect fit guarantee."
The company is requiring I submit a photo of myself rather than allowing me to take it to a local tailor. For a number of reasons, I am not sure I trust this company any longer. The company also does not have a phone line. They say to save costs. I can not elect to take the clothes to a tailor or get a new garment sewed.
What are my rights as a consumer?
Are consumer rights better if I went to a real physical in store, got measured and then bought clothes that were then adjusted?
Buying these tailor adjusted clothes is for work and a fairly big expenditure. I've probably been conned this time. Just be helpful to know where is a safer place to shop for next time. Thank you.

made to measure or bespoke does negate CSR's but badly made does notEx forum ambassador

Is this company UK based. Did you provide measurements or were you measured by them for the clothes?0

The last person you want to measure you for made to measure clothes is you.
If you want made to measure then don't do it on the internet, you need to go to a proper tailor to get measured correctly and pay the price accordingly.
I will hazard a guess that you found a cheap suit made to measure on the internet, that just so happens to be from China, well you get what you pay for.
You can try a chargeback or if you paid by credit card and it was over £100 a S75 claim.0 -
Was it these folks (googled the blurb you pasted from the website):

Yes. It was Tailor Store. I've been reading more about them and it looks like someone else also has the same problem. I can't post web links but there is a review on Trustpilot by LukeS describing a similar problem. They are a Sweden based company. The clothes were sent from Germany.
Thanks Bris I will ask the credit card company. I do not know if Tailor Store are right because they quoted me the law? So do not have to refund me i.e. my credit card company can not help. But will ask.
Country Cousin - I provided the measurements based on their instructions. I've measured the clothes and they match the measurements by and large. But they are so badly cut e.g. seat area as to be ill fitting and uncomfortable. I've been refused the option of taking it to a tailor or anything along the lines of the "guarantee."0 -

If you go to their T&Cs, under the section about disputes they list a few alternative dispute methods so might be worth trying those first (or your card provider if paid by card):

The dispute section is at the bottom.
However under tolerances, it does state they will add extra fabric to adjust for shrinkage that can occur during washing, is that a possibility in your case? Is it too big all over or is it just wrong in certain places? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
unholyangel - no it's not possible. The clothes have not been washed. Only tried on.
I've been traveling for work so it is past 14 days since I received the product. Without a photo they have refused to honor the guarantee or warranty in the T&C section you quote.
Be good to know what the consumer rights are, if any in this case. Thanks.0 -

Tbh I think a photo in the circumstances is a reasonable request. It will allow them to check the fit of the garments - where even if you return the garments to them, they wont be able to check the fit.
I can't advise on your consumer rights I'm afraid as I'm not familiar with the laws of Sweden. They will have similar laws to our own as our consumer rights come from the EU, but there may be some important differences depending on how sweden implemented those regulations & directives. You keep using that word. Getting into the garmets would damage myself or the garmets. Not entirely comfortable sending crotch photos. Have offered to take them to a tailor. He can objectively measure as s/he did for LukeS. Seems to be something Tailor Store do not want in any case. It is clear there's an attempt to use as little material as possible perhaps to save costs.
Will see if the agencies you mention have anything to say. Lesson in this seems to be to avoid the less scrupulious online measured clothing companies.0
