https://www.goodrunguide.co.uk/AgeGraded.asp to give your time an age graded score. Greater than 50% is good.
Yes - but everyone has a theoretical maximum speed based on their genetic make-up, so someone running at 40% age grade, might be 'good' if they are running to their best of their abilities.
For info re higher age gradings:
60-70% is considered locally competitive (will likely be in top 10 at local park run)
70-80% is considered regionally competitive (will likely win any park run and come near the front in regional races)
80%-90% is nationally competitive (elite)
90%-100% internationally competitive (olympic standard).
My age grade is around 65%-66% and I always come in the top 10 at park run. Have been 3rd once, but never stood a chance of winning as you always seem to get at least 1 person in the 70s turning up.0 -
My HR hits 200+ on parkrun.
HR indicates effort. Effort = A good time.0 -

I was keeping things simple but 50% is average for your age.
My Age grade is around 67-69% and I am usually in the top 10-15 out of an average of 100 people at the parkruns I do. I have been 5th on one occasion.
In races I am normally around the top 10-20% ish.
Age grade is just that, age grade. Someone who is 80 and running at 85% is going to be slower (24:00) however someone who is 25 would need to be running 15:00 to be around the same age grade score. If someone who is 25 ran 24 mins then that would only be around 50%Alias_Omega wrote: »My HR hits 200+ on parkrun.

To a point yes ... but not too many people will be physically able to have a 200+ HR. I know I can't get mine that high.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Heart rate is a very interesting thing! My normal heart rate when I reach the stage I'm confortable with my running pace and can go for a half marathon distance is about 160. If I give 85% +, it will go up to 180. Getting close to 200 and I'll have to stop soon. It's been like this for years ever since I started to record it.
My OH (late 40s) will be at about 135-140 hbpm when working at 85%+. Anything over 150 and he is ready to pass out. I'll get to 135 just walking fast! Both our heart rates at rest is about 55 hbpm.0
