Car damage by shopping trolley

Title of thread is very misleading.0

I worked for Tesco previously and these cages were generally stacked in 5s and ties together and stored in the locked yard to be collected, the Tesco I worked at was quite large though and some metro stores have no delivery yard so have to put empty cages out the front for collection but only when expecting a delivery.
The mere fact they got hold of a trolley says to me some sort of security was neglected as all the Tesco I'm aware of have 8' high locked gates so how some yobs got 30kg of steel over them I'm not sure.0 -

Doesn't excuse people who can't be bothered to read the actual OP to find out what is said. It's as bad as those that read the headlines in the Daily Wail and then comment on the headline only - you know the ones that are completely contradicted by the story itself.0 -
I know someone that worked for them and sued Tesco, i cannot go into detail.
A known injury hazard was reported over several weeks by several staff members, nothing was done to fix it and a fairly new staff member got injured.
Nothing serious but an accident that should not have happened.
The claim went on and on and on, eventually going to court and Tesco were less than helpful with any details of witnesses and people that had reported it etc.
Privacy issue to share the data on who reported it, 2 had moved to other stores and one had retired. Tesco would not give any info out.
The staff member won in court and Tesco paid out. So i wouldnt expect them to be helpful at all in your case and you probably wont win in court either as they will just say they were stolen.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It would be a sad state of affairs if somebody could trespass on to your property, steal your belongings and use them for committing crimes then for you to have to pay for the criminals actions.0

It would but unfortunately that is the direction in which society is going. We are developing (or have developed) a claims culture.0 -

Recently a group of kids went on a rampage and stole all the delivery cage trolleys from round the back of my local tescos. Unfortunately for me they decided to push them down the road and into my car at the bottom of the road. This caused significant damage to my brand new car. The kids have not been caught but I have all the footage of them on my home cctv. Tescos and the police are aware as several other cars were damaged but it is unlikely that anybody will be prosecuted and the cctv footage is poor quality.
Are tescos liable for this damage as the trolleys were obviously not secured properly overnight?
What would u recommend for me going forward with this?
Any help would be great

If your car was stolen by same teenagers and smashed into a parked car, would you be offering up your insurance details or offering to pay the costs to the other car owner?
I cant comment on what Tesco may or may not do but if it were me I would claim on my own insurance and let it go in terms of chasing Tesco for anything. Id maybe write to them to notify them of your losses but purely to request that their belongings are secured more effectively in future...0
