Christmas Markets - Day trip

Does anyone know of any continental Christmas markets that are accessible from the Liverpool/Manchester area for the day?

Short on time this year but would still like to visit a market.

I know there are markets in the UK and I have visited most of the main ones from Edinburgh to York to Birmingham to London etc. I prefer the continental markets.

Thanks

  • I've done both Paris and Belgium for day trips. Get 1st plane out and last plane home, I had a good 10 hours sight seeing.

The larger ones are open from 25th November, a one night trip would be much easier, MAN has some Düsseldorf and Cologne flights and you can easily get from both airports to Cologne.

Flybe has flights from MAN to Hannover, with a 19.30 Friday evening flight.

I used to live in Wigan, definitely not continental and a place that I really don't ever fancy visiting for leisure purposes!!

I agree a 1 night trip would offer more options but with my work situation and hours of work I can't guarantee 1 day off at the moments never mind potentially 2 or 1.5 if I have to get to the airport in the early evening.
