Cleaning banknotes?

Does anyone have any experience of removing staining from earth/soil from banknotes? In the mid 1990's I stored some money in the loft and then subsequently buried it when my children found it. It has sadly been water damaged and I wondered if anybody knew the best way to clean them?

See if the bank will accept them, that way you get your laundering done for you.0 -

Whenever I've accidentally left banknotes in my pockets they've come out of the washing machine looking lovely and clean. It seems obvious you should just put them all through your normal wash cycle.maninthestreet wrote: »Are you planning to launder the money?
I accept no responsibility for financial losses which may result from being brave/daft enough to try this.0 -

Why didn't you did it up in 2007 to pay some off some of your £22,000 credit card debts?0
