Hugely different tariffs - unit price, standing charge etc - any advice?

Options
I am at the end of my term with Extra Energy and am confused by the new deals offered:

Extra Energy deal:

Electricity:
Unit rate 10.703 p/kWh
Standing charge 20.441 p/day

Total:557.91

Gas
Unit rate 2.853 p/kWh
Standing charge 20.441 p/day

Total:794.36

OR EON (using the cheap energy club)

Gas
Unit rate 9.369p per kWh
Standing charge 71.568p per day

Total 463

Electricity

Unit rate 1.856p per kWh
Standing charge 6.489p per day

Total 694

Obviously it looks like I will save a couple of hundred pounds going with Eon however the prices are totally different regarding standing charge etc. I have used accurate readings over the year. I have got a new condensing boiler last month if that makes any difference for the coming year.

Any advice?

£1157 for a years energy is cheaper than £1352 simples, what is confusing ? ;)

It would help if CEC showed the new EE tariffs.

Like molerat, I too am confused as to what you are confused about exactly.
(other than the difference between gas and electricity as supplied by EON ;))

Use a comparison site, like the CEC, to find the best deal for you.

What I would also recommend you do is to to check different suppliers per fuel - it is often cheapear than taking any dual fuel tariff.

You may have listed the prices wrong for E.ON as you have put the label "GAS" to the electricity price and vice versa.

Yep - it is a dual fuel only tariff. Hence it is probably done to balance out the very low Gas tariff. The gas price got my attention but it would not come up in results for me. I do not think it is available to existing Eon customers. Even though I only have them for electric.

In summary it is much more expensive for me overall when the electric prices are taken into account. As it is duel fuel only, therein lies the problem.

It is a very odd structured/balanced tariff. Without any calculations I could see it benefiting customers that have very very high electric use and the majority (high or low) gas users.
