Skype updating in the background

Installed skype and not liking the way it always runs in the background i disabled that and also disabled the autoupdate that it still left running even though i chose not to run at startup.
Switched the computer on after dinner and Skype is running and has completed an update. HOW??
What have i missed? Anyone know. Nothing in startup ans Skype and the autoupdate is both disabled in processes.
