Norwich Union Car Insurance saving tips

My car renewal was due 17th september and was £384 last year and with no claims or points this year i was expecting it to be cheaper than previous , it was £412 WITHOUT courtesy car! nearly £30 more!
So i shopped around on the net and the best quote i got was from elephant.co.uk for £235 WITH courtesy car inc.
So i rang Norwich Union up and told them about the quotes i got and if they could do anything to get it cheaper so i could stay , they got it down to £372 + C.Car , so i said send me the forms and i will look through it not wanting to buy it there and then on the phone.
So it came through today and i rang up today and spoke to a nice woman and asked her if she can get me a cheaper quote as ive got my renewal through the post at £372 and its £50 more expensive than the better quote i had. She started telling me how great Norwich Union are and how good the name is ect and its not all about the price ect.. but i said it does come down to money and ide rather stay with NU but the price is too high , she said she cant do anything about the price but can give me £25 vouchers for high street stores is her final offer....almost every store you can think of from asda and m&s to PC World and Hmv. I said humm if you can make it £50 vouchers ( the price difference of my elephant quote) i will stay , she put me on hold while she spoke to her manager and came back with yes , so i got it there and then.

So from £412 without C car , to £372 with C car , to £372 + £25 vouchers with C car , to £372 + £50 vouchers with C car :)

Qoute me happy baby!

  • But elephant.co.uk was £137 cheaper and as you got vouchers even after that they are £87 cheaper. Also they are not a bad comapny from what i hear it just has to all be done online.
