Insurance brokers

Due to a rather complicated insurance issue a family member will probably need to go through a broker for their car insurance at renewal, how do they go about finding a reputable/good broker please, is it just a case of doing a google search or is there something they should look out for?

Local recommendation is the best way! (But avoid Swinton - and any pms you get from brokers lurking here!)
Otherwise the British Insurance Brokers Assoc (BIBA) will list local members0 -
I'd look for a Broker with a high street presence and avoid the biggers brokers who focus on volume, not individual clients.
A-Plan are a reputable high street broker, from an insurers perspective I like dealing with them, their staff know their stuff and are helpful.
Don't take that as a recommendation though, that's just my personal view.0 -
thank you both, using brokers is something new to me so I wasn't sure how best to advise my relative, I think I will probably suggest they start with the BIBA website. I haven't seen a high street broker for years, we used to have one here about a 5 minute walk away which my husband used up to about 20 years ago, and then they shut up shop and we have been using the common insurers since. Unfortunately it is very unlikely that my young relative will be able to just pick up a phone and get insurance (and his current insurers have already said they will not be offering a quote at renewal )and a broker in the middle to explain things to and assist is likely to be the way forward.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Soolin.
If you don't mind posting it on the thread, what's the problem, we may be able to stear you in the right direction to save you a bit of time on the phone. Or even suggest some more appropriate terms for you to search for to narrow the search down.0 -

As it isn't me and this is such an odd situation, I would not like to potentially embarrass the person by giving any details openly on here. It is very unusual though and does not involve any police action or points or restrictions on the license.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
