Oven with microwave fucntion

Currently in the process of buying a new kitchen. We want a double oven and all of the companies we've seen so far to do designs for us have said that we should have one normal oven and the second one with a microwave function.

Does anyone have one? I feel that doing that two things, one of the functions won’t work as well as the other. When I try and look for reviews online, all I can find is Microwaves with oven functions, and it’s more like the other way around..

We use the microwave fairly frequently and to not have one sat on the counter would be amazing.

I have two built-in eye level Siemens ovens. One is a normal sized single oven that does lots of different things. The other is a reduced height model that does fewer things but does have a built in microwave that has three different power settings. The ovens are equal in performance in the areas that they both do and the microwave feature of the smaller oven is superior to the standalone microwave it replaced.

We have two eye level Miele. Much the same as Rain Shadow but ours are almost identical in size. The second oven has a slightly lower 'roof' inside which presumably is to do with the grill and microwave function. It is used as much as the main oven and performs exactly the same but with the added functions.

Maybe it's just a matter of terminology! We have a double oven, the bigger one is a standard fan oven, the smaller eyel evel one we use mainly as a microwave, which is excellent.

We only use the oven function occasionally. It's OK at that, but is different to the fan oven, so that has to be taken into account. There are some combination options which I've never really got the hang of. I need to consult the manual if I want to use them.

I would never go back to a microwave sitting on the work surface!

When we were having an extension and new kitchen built many years ago we bought a Sharp 953 40 litre Combination Oven and Microwave to use in the dining room while our kitchen was out of action.

It was so good that we built it into the new kitchen alongside a tradition 1 1/2 oven.

When it wore out after about 15 years we bought another, this time the similar Sharp 959.

When we moved house in 2011, we brought that with us and still use it as much if not more than the built in 1 1/2 conventional oven that was in the new house. It had to go on the worktop as there was nowhere to build it in.

It is excellent for use as a Microwave, a Fan Oven or a combination of those two. It also has a useful grill function.

We are now renewing our kitchen and have ordered an AEG Competence fan oven and and AEG Microwave Combination oven. We hope that the latter will be as good as our Sharp oven.

Yes we have this, fitted by previous owners. They are both AEG and seem very good quality. Setup is similar to as others have described. I would have never have picked it, but now wouldn't be without it, and it is liberating to not have the microwave on a counter!
