Viewing Property before completion...

Greetings all. I have a query. Have exchanged for a new build in August. Cut a long story short. Viewed the property 2 weeks ago. There were quite a few blunders: Wrong tiling, wrong colour carpets, missing dishwasher etc. I was told this would be rectified. However, have been issued with instructions for completion for next Friday. However, I can't view the property until Thursday...One day before completion.

I spoke to my solicitors (well their paymasters are the developers) and they inform me that if I don't complete on the Friday ie shell out some serious cash I shall be in breach of contract.

What to do? Complete on a house that I might not be happy with. Wait and view it and miss the completion deadline?

Should I send funds to the solicitor and tell them to hold them until I give the go-ahead to complete? Pulling my hair out with this one.

Too late, you've exchanged contracts. Time to inspect is just before completion.

    I've corrected that.

By withholding funds at completion, you could incur penalties which would far outweigh the inconveniences of these mistakes.

You are now in no position to hold the builder to ransom, but if you have proof that they've messed-up, you have the right to the supply of the correct goods after you take possession.

Thanks for this. As long as I have the right to supply of correct goods after possession. I have a print out of specific choices.
