Parking eye!

Hi everyone,

We have an Aldi who's car park is 'run' by parking eye. It's council land etc. The car park is free (you put your registration into a terminal). I did this and assumed I'd abided by the rules. However it would seem the rules have changed.

The car park was always a 90 minute stay. This has been sneakily changed to an hour. This particular day I parked for...61 minutes.

I have been sent a letter demanding £70 for staying over by a minute.

The signage in the car park is there but incredibly high up (top of a lamppost) and I had no idea the times had changed.

I am not paying £70 for a minute and plan on contesting.

I've looked through other threads but I'm totally confused as to where I should start...I was wondering if someone could offer some advice?

Thanks!

Alma

Start by having a good careful read of the Newbies Sticky at the top of this forum - it will lay-out the full procedure for dealing with Parking Eye.

Why is it confusing when a thread at the top is called '**NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET? OLD OR NEW? **READ THESE FAQS FIRST!**' and when you read that one first, you find your first appeal already written for you?

    Serious question.

Unless people are looking at forums on phones (DON'T!!) I do not understand why the first step is considered confusing. Do not write ''This particular day I parked for...61 minutes'' in your appeal; do not say who parked!

This will NOT be about a one minute overstay. It will be about not putting your VRN into a keypad in-store, I expect. Loads of Aldi cases here, search 'Aldi keypad ParkingEye' as the obvious keywords to learn more from other threads.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
