Thanks for the link, Emz, which I read. My cousin had CF and had a heart-lung transplant back in the day when they tended to favour that rather than the lung transplants. There was nothing wrong with her own heart though and that was immediately transplanted to someone who needed a heart.
I don't understand your comment though, sorry:o. Please could you explain (if it's not a rude question)?
I hope you are better now after your cold and that OH has gone back to work and is out from under your feet. I know what that's like, even more so now OH is retired:(0 -

I was just feeling a bit down yesterday. That poor girl has been through so much and is only 27. I don't know what she's going through in terms of her prognosis, but I do know what it feels like to watch your body generally decline at a far more rapid rate than it should do. It's highly frustrating and your mind wants to do so much more than your body is capable of. It's the feeling of being trapped.
I just didn't see the point in surveys, clearing debt, money in general yesterday. That was all. Back on it today though.
OH went back to work yesterday but is off again today. He's still in bed at the moment. I hear a pathetic moan every so often, so I know he's still there!!

Today is all about planning damage limitation for OH's mum's birthday. It's Tuesday next week, but we're going to visit on Saturday.
Problem is, that means spending quite a bit of money. He wants to get her a £50 M&S voucher, which to be honest is the same as I would spend on my mum.
However, there's the £30 petrol cost to get there and back (although we will fill the car up and that costs £40-£50, but should last us a few days into next week too), we'll be going out for a meal that we will be expected to pay for seeing as it's her birthday and he wants to get her flowers to be delivered on her birthday.
I know that's all very expensive, but if I challenge OH about the cost, he just goes off on one about how his parents have done a lot for him blah blah blah. So to be honest, I find it much easier to budget for it and try to keep costs down to a minimum.
For the meal, I've got a 40% off voucher at Table Table. There's one near them, so I'll insist we go there if they want us to pay for the meal. Should bring the cost down from £60-£70 to £40-£50. I'll choose something very cheap to get the cost down even more. I've also got a £5 voucher to claim on my loyalty card there. Not sure if we can use it at the same time, but I'll get it printed off so that I can at least try. Would love to get the cost below £40.
For the flowers, I've got 10% off on my Sparks card and would then get another 20% off staff discount. So M&S is definitely the place to go. I can get a £30 bunch down to £21.60. I might see if there's a cheaper bunch, but the £25 ones look pretty naff at the moment. I'm only 21 points off claiming a £5 M&S voucher on Swagbucks, so am going to get that done today and hope that it comes through before Monday (last day to order the flowers for Tuesday) so that I can get the cost below £20.
The things I have to do just to keep the peace

Lidls....very cheap for flowers, buy a couple or three bunches, a bit of pretty wrapping paper and some crinkly stuff if you have any, presto, very cheap less than £15 bouquet that looks a lot more expensive.
And give them to her in person....Phone call to say happy birthday on the day....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Thanks. I'm all up for getting a £10 bunch from Tesco, but he wants them to be delivered to her as a surprise.
Managed to find a decent £25 bunch on M&S. Down to £18 with discounts. Just requested the £5 voucher, so if that comes through in time, it'll be £13. I can live with that.

You've done some brilliant organizing there with the meal discounts and flowers. Well done:T. I'm sure you'll enjoy the meal a lot more knowing you haven't had to pay top-whack for it. What a shame that you'll be looking out for the cheapest meal option for yourself though.
I agree with what's been said about flowers from elsewhere but with your discounts etc the M&S ones won't seem so expensive. It is nice to have them delivered, I know when I've ever received any it's made them extra special somehow. My brother and SIL sent me some from M&S for a 'special' birthday and I really must say that they were the best I've ever had. Beautiful selection, perfect condition and superbly packaged. I was amazed at the size of the box they came in:eek:
Is it a 'special' birthday or does OH push the boat out every year?0 -

I thought that was probably what you meant:).
It really is a horrendous condition and my heart goes out to you and all sufferers, especially as it affects the time of life when people are young and want to do so much that they can't.
Stay strong in what you are doing, you're amazing and an inspiration to so many of us:A0 -

Not a special birthday. He usually spends more than this, so this is me reining him in!! He'd think nothing of spending hundreds on her present alone.

No sign of the £5 M&S voucher yet. I've just completed 3 Valued Opinion surveys in a row (although only 2 of them appear to have been credited ), so I'm just £3 away from a £10 voucher on there. Not sure if I can make it in time for the flowers though.
One of the surveys is sending out some sanitary towels to test, which is always handy. Also received one of the £5 Amazon vouchers I'm waiting for.
