Where are all the free movies on Amazon?

Well, I purchased my Firestick and it works just fine, but I am struggling to find anything that is free to watch without being a member of Amazon Prime. I thought there were supposed to be hundreds of films and other things that were completely free to view:(

Also, from what I have seen it looks like you have to subscribe to view Iplayer via the firestick - is that true? I have always watched it free on my desktop computer.

Bit disappointing.

I seem to remember you were informed that without a Prime subscription your viewing with Amazon Fire TV will be limited.

I don't think you have to pay to watch BBC Iplayer but under the new licensing rules you may well have to register to use it.

I think iPlayer has just started to require a login to work
(happy to be updated on the specifics of why this is but my tablet and iPhone in the last week now requires me to login)

So, I think the iPlayer login is coincidental and not a quirk of the Fire Stick.

As I said above, TV licensing rules. The Beeb now say you must have a license to use iplayer.
  • OP, are you getting confused between a standard Firestick and one that has had Kodi sideloaded onto it?
  • you need kodi on it.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes I know I was advised that without Prime viewing would be limited, but I haven't been able to find anything free yet. Also have been reading that many Prime subscribers are getting fed up because Amazon are cutting back on what you can watch free on that.

    What is Kodi?

  • Kodi is a platform for viewing local and online media, through various plugins and 'builds'.

If you have an android phone, it is especially easy to load Kodi onto a firestick. You then need to add a 'build' on-top to access online streams (e.g. films).

BUT.. it's worth noting that the legality of some of these streams is questionable, so you won't really get people explaining how to set this up within MSE.

I've just cancelled Netflix and am quite happy with Amazon Prime videos. But.. I also use the music and delivery service too, so I get pretty good value out of it. Netflix is basically the same price, and their library isn't so great anymore.

I haven't seen any evidence of that.

Why worry about legality of the streams as long as the viewing of such is legal?

If you're big enough to not worry about the legality, you're big enough to google how to install it
