If you are a mobile hairdresser, some at least of your car costs could be claimed against income tax. Hopefully you do this? :)

What are your dogs fed? £65 per month seems high for food, are on the on specialised diets?

Thanks for all your input. I have been having an educated (or not so in my case I'm a hairdressers and maths does my head in) guess at this year income with various totals but I think last 3 mth divided by 13 is what I'm sticking with. I do claim for car, stock petrol, phone etc. I think this year has been a good one so far and I do need to put aside more for tax and ni. With new Dfw leaf turned I will re look at everything.

I have 3 dogs that I raw feed GBNI. I have found another supplier that doesn't charge delivery and if I bulk buy I could get it down to £50/mth.

Your food and drink bill is massive for three people. Don't want to judge but £108 on drinks only doesn't sound very healthy. You spend more on this than on your mortgage!

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Your booze bill is the equivalent of two bottles of scotch a week!

I'm sure you could reduce this in half at a stroke.

I went from a bottle a week to a bottle a month two years ago when I started on my diet and I've stuck to it now.

Unless I've missed it somewhere, you've not included expenses for the teenager. Do they buy all their own clothes and fund their own travel and entertainment? If so, do you give parenting lessons as that's astounding. If not, you need to factor that in.

Hi I'v been a bit busy and only just managed to read last few suggestions.
First the drink thing. We really aren't alcoholic lol . When I was sat doing the budget I thought about how much we drink in a week. Between me and husband we have been having 3/4 bottle s of wine a week. At say £5 per bottle that is £20. With maybe a few cans for husband that is how I figured £25. This is perhaps a lot and is on the top of my list for cutting back on. £100 per week on food is another think I'm trying to cut back on. I have been very good at popping in to supermarket on way home for a few bits and over spending.

Unfortunately I can't give you any pearls of wisdom for cheap teenager keeping. My two daughters have left home and still cost me money. That is another story. This daughter living with us at moment is my step daughter. She lives with us in the week and goes to see her mum at weekends. Her dad pays for what she needs and I haven't included his expenses in this budget.

FBaby I was just thinking. I hope u wasn't thinking that £108 for drinks at home was for a week. I calculated £25 PER WEEK for two of us.
Which whilst trying to cut back and save is an extravagance I don't think is very excessive. Or is that just me?

A 750ml bottle of wine contains 10 units of alcohol, so your 3 to 4 bottles contains 30 to 40 units.

Government guidance recommends no more than 14 units per person, per week, so, even 3 bottles per week is 2 units over the recommended limit, and 4 bottles is 12 units over.

4 bottles is 5 units over the earlier recommended limit, of 14 units for women and 21 units for men.
