Help with Hayes Matalan PCN

Hi,
I went to one of the Matalan in West London for the first time. We stayed there for nearly 40 mins. I stayed in the car with my asleep kids while my other half went into the shop and bought something from there. After a few days later I have received PCN from smart parking.
I went to the store and talked to store manager and she suggested to appeal it.
Please help me with any template for my appeal.
Really appreciate your input and help in advance.

Read the newbies FAQ sticky, near the top of the forum thread list, one page back from here. Post #1 of the sticky explains the opening phase of dealing with this and includes the (blue text) initial appeal that you will use, verbatim (no changes), to make your first move. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Smart are so easy to beat at POPLA stage - as long as the keeper appeals, not saying who was driving. So use the template newbies thread appeal in blue writing. If you can't see it please look again because it's the only appeal in blue writing!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Do I need to tailor make this to suite my case? I went to the store and one of the managers said one of the machine which is the only one at front was not working. But I have no proof of that.
Thanks.0 -
No. Submit it as it is, online, calling yourself the registered keeper if there is a drop-down menu that asks the question (NOT driver).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

No, you just need to send the Newbies' template as it is written. If you try to tailor the wording, you may inadvertently reveal who was driving.
Sometimes Smart cancel as soon as they see the MSE template letter.

Alternatively you could go into the store and ask him to put it in writing for you, but often they are too busy, or just plain reluctant to put 'pen to paper', hence you giving him the words in an email for him to confirm.
Try these approaches, nothing to lose. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Email the manager and ask him to confirm your understanding of your conversation with him that the machine wasn't working. Keep that up your sleeve for later.

Thanks. She told me that one of the machines was not working lately. She said it is worth to mention it but I didn't have her name or email. She just gave me an email address to appeal it.0
