I invested £83,000 in a St James Place Pension Fund 4.5 years ago and pay £240.00 net (£300.00 gross) per month into the fund. Currently the fund value is £125,000 which I must admit seems OK to me? If, having spoken to the IFA and reached the stage where it is not convincing, you have incurred a charge which is non-refundable.
Is that correct?

You get a period of free discussion. You cannot be charged until the IFA says that you will be charged if you proceed beyond a given point. You then sign an agreement on that basis. No charge can apply prior to that.
