Hi im liiking at the TALKTALK package which offers -
Up to 8 Meg download speed
40GB monthly usage allowance

Martins tips say -
'Viewing 25 web pages takes very roughly 1MB'

COuld someone explain this to me please?

I spend up to 3 hours a day on the internet, usually on this site, flicking from board to board, story to story, and im also planning on selling quite a bit of stuff on ebay - will i run out?

I dont understand!!!!!

You won't get anywhere near 40GB by browsing here, don't worry about it. A 40GB allowance is around 1300MB per day, or 433MB per hour (3 hours/day), so using their estimate

433x25=10825 web pages per hour, or 3 web pages per second.

Each image you see on the screen and the text etc are all downloaded to your pc - they all have a size (eg. 10kb image, 20kb of text) BUT if you view a page which you have previously viewed then the images are taken from cache (not re-downloaded)
40GB is more than enough for general web browsing - if you are downloading large files then you can soon use up a fair chunk quickly.....

So if all you do is what you say then no, I'd say there is no chance you's use 40gb a month

You will be very very unlikely to run out. 1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes.

However, as nobody has asked - why an 8 meg connection for basic browsing 3 hours a day?

As long as you don't download loads of tunes and videos / films, you should be fine, just cross your fingers you get a reliable service from TalkTalk - they're hit and miss.
