Laminated glass

If having laminated glass in a residential house downstairs, would you have the 6.4mm laminated glass on the outside pane or the inside pane?
Also would this apply in the instance of a patio door or front door which also has tempered glass in one of the panes?
Thanks

Thanks for responding to my post, however, I was really interested in whether the laminated glass should be the inside pane of the unit, or the outside pane0 -
Why would you want laminated glass in a house?............
There is very little thermal benefit or security benefit and there is a safety issue with using laminated glass in a house.0 -
I appreciate the effort members are making with comments so far, but they do not answer the question I posed. Irrespective of whether laminated glass is a good idea - I am look to find the correct placing of the laminated glass, as per my original questions.
Thanks:)0 -

Not sure if this helps but I am having replacement sash windows made and the firm told me the acoustic laminated glass always goes on the outside to maximise sound reduction; the inner pane is low-e glass, and that works well to keep heat in.0 -
It depends on what the reason is for laminating the glassThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

As most of us have said ,you haven't given enough info but if you just want a inside/outside answer then inside would be better long term because over a long period of time if its on the outside water can get between the 2 panes and turn the membrane a milky colour. Also linseed oil putty can often react with the membrane.0
