Who's responsible?

The buyer has opened a 'item not received" with eBay.
As for trying it on what safeguards are in place to stop a buyer claiming non delivery (if the seller didn't use sign for delivery) pocketing the goods and getting their money back because responsibility is all down to the seller and they posted the item in good faith and have PoP?
There is nothing to stop ANY buyer claiming non delivery if an item is sent untracked. That is how ebay works and you just have to accept it if you continue to use the platform to sell.
You can't prove delivery therefore you have to just suck it up, refund and claim from RM.0 -

It'll certainly be track and trace from now on.
Nice little earner though for those who exploit the fact that a seller hasn't used T and T. You get the goods and end up getting your money back!!0 -

Agreed but if they have it's a nice little scam.
Do I have to refund the postage as well or just the value of the goods they're claiming not to have received?0 -

I'm afraid you have to refund their payment in full.
When you claim from RM, if the claim is allowed, they will reimburse your postage payment too.
The claims procedure is on the RM website.0 -
Also, make sure you add them to your blocked buyer list. Add their ebay user name and the email address provided by Paypal.
Even if it is a genuine INR, I always add to my blocked buyer list,0 -
How can it be a
when if the item had been worth anything it would have been sent tracked?"Nice little earner"Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -

I suppose it comes down to how moral and decent you think people are. AFAIC now everyone I sell to on eBay will be a potential ****, ergo everything will be sent tracked and traced.0 -

Why don't you read the sticky on postage. You don't need to send everything tracked. It would cost a small fortune.0 -
Unfortunately yes. The buyer is claiming they hasn't received the goods and is after a full refund. So in reality then as far as eBay is concerned PoP is of no value if a buyer is claiming non receipt of goods?
Proof of Postage is worth up to £20, as that is how much you can claim from Royal Mail for standard postage. Go to http://claims.royalmail.com/ to make a claim for an item lost in the post.
There isn't much stopping buyers claiming an item didn't arrive when it did, which is why items worth more than £20 should be sent recorded or special delivery, depending on value.0
