With many suitcases looking very similar, it wouldn't take much to get an old black suitcase, fill it with cheap unidentifiable items and no tag or other details on the outside then when the time comes to collect your bag, simply pick up a similar looking one "by mistake".
If the owner or someone notices, you simply have a quick look and state that you made an error and then take your real bag.0 -

Which would mean that someone had prior knowledge that the gf had something really worth stealing in her luggage. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I wonder how many cars are broken into on the off chance that there is something worth having in the boot or glove box and the same for people that walk off with other people's coats or jackets from bars, clubs etc.
If the old suitcase and contents they sacrifice in order to get a different one was pretty much worthless then whatever the contents of the stolen bag are, they may well be in profit.0 -
... and if you do accidentally exchange your worthless bag of junk for an equally worthless bag with nothing of value, you can always take your new acquisition and try again on another coach.
It's going to eventually come up "win" ...
Really, you don't need to pre-plan which case you steal. Any case will be equal or better than the one you start with.0 -
I am not denying that thefts/losses will always occur. And if they occur despite the company taking reasonable care then I believe the liability falls on the passenger or the passenger's insurer.
However if the losses or thefts occur because the company did not take reasonable care then I believe the company should compensate the passenger.0 -

I think it is more likely to be the latter rather than an opportunist thief. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
