The hot water tap on our bath does not run anywhere near as hot as the kitchen tap (combi boiler, both taps same floor), so that while kitchen water is too hot to put hand under, it's not possible to run a hot bath.

I think this has something to do with the thermostatic valve that was installed to control the shower temperature, in that it was plumbed so that the bath supply runs though it too? would that make sense?
  • My kitchen tap is also really hot and the bath tap is much cooler. That's the gist of my original question actually - how do I get the bath tap to be as hot as the kitchen one?

Where is your boiler in relation to the kitchen and bathroom? Water cools as it travels through the piping system. Bath taps and pipes are bigger bore than kitchen so more water can flow reducing the time it is in the heat exchanger in the boiler.
  • Mine is one storey above the kitchen but the difference in heat is quite big.

Mine is further away but a matter of 10-12 feet - surely not enough to account for such a big temp drop?
