You;ve taken the car to Vauxhall and they're using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.
Getting the head skimmed will cost a fraction of that.
Any competent mechanic could have handled this for you - you've chosen the most expensive option sadly.
And to have it towed 180 miles? Although, the OP doesn't say how long ago they bought the carYou can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
I had my drive shaft exchanged under the Toyota warranty before. I found my car had the clicking noise when I turn my steering wheel. I took my car to Toyota and told them I suspect there was some issues with the drive shaft. They came back to me saying the it cost me £1000ish to replace. I went back to the warranty document, it stated clearly drive shaft is included in the warranty.
I bought the car from the same Toyota dealer who told me I have to pay to get the issue fixed. I have to take my warranty document back to them to show them it is included.
It is worth to check your warranty document to see if it is included. They should list out all the issues that included in the warranty. Hope it helps.0 -

A head skim is about £40-£50 I assume the other £1200 is labour (and a gasket set)???I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
