iPad/tablet - New v refurbished

After almost 5 years I've decided to replace my 2nd gen iPad after the screen has been smashed for the second time!

I'm struggling to decide whether or not to buy a new android tablet or buy a refurbished ipad.

Anyone got any suggestions? My budget is around £150 but could go up to around £200 if I felt it was worth the extra and I don't want a mini screen size.

Tablet will mainly be used for internet browsing, watching TV and my son playing games.

    Have you looked into an Apple repair?
    This would probably mean Apple will replace with like for like.

    Or Apple refurbished - which in my experience are new.

    Personally I would look at something like a Lenovo tablet, these days the quality/price overall is far better than past offers as well as having sd slot to expand memory should it be wanted {something I believe is not poss with Apple products}

    expand storage , not memory

    I can thoroughly recommend buying refurbished ipad from Apple, as I did this, and it was brand new in the original packaging. Only thing is that I can't see you getting anything there within your budget.

    Have you checked out how much it would be to replace the screen of your current iPad? If a broken screen is the only thing wrong with it, would probably be the cheapest way to go about things, and then perhaps invest in a heavy duty cover.

    +1 for buying refurbished from Apple or from a local Apple registered dealer. This is my second refurbished Macbook, DD is still using my 2008 one. Plus my DW is using a 4 year old refurbished iPad.
    All came looking identical to a brand new one.
