Wifi extender connection

Hi

I have a hootoo wifi extender which was working fine until my router stopped working.

I have a new router but cant get connected to the extender to share updated connection to new router.

Ip should be 192.168.10.1 but cant seem to connect either with wifi or Ethernet to the extender,

Any advice appreciated

Are you able to connect to your router via wifi?

As you have a new router I'd try a factory reset of the extender. Is it this one http://www.hootoo.com/hootoo-ht-wr01-wireless-n-signal-repeater-and-range-extender.html

Failing that try connecting to it via ethernet and go through the setup again as per the manual.

Check the subnet settings for your router and the valid IP ranges for attached devices.

All the routers I've seen issue addresses in the range 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x by default, so 192.168.10.1 wouldn't be a valid IP.

You could either change the subnet on your router so that 198.168.10.1 is a valid address, or change the IP address on the extender to one that's in the router's subnet.

New router, you'll almost certainly have to reset the extender to factory settings and then set it up again as you did before.

At the risk of suggesting the “bl**ding obvious” can’t you connect via the WPS button, assuming your new router has one?

Will check this out further, 192.168.10.1 is what's on repeater but instructions say to try 192.168.10.2 onwards.

Both have a wps button but doesn't seem to do anything

It could be the repeaters went faulty and just bad timing, however will keep plugging away at it

Yeah, can connect to wifi and it is that extender.

Just downloaded the manual to try again, remember it being very straightforward to set up and cant help but feel I'm missing something simple
