UK company responsible for International Warranty?

The item was as new when I bought it.
Warranties are not a legal entitlement (or requirement) and are offered in addition to your legal rights. By purchasing from abroad you bypassed the legal rights you would have had here and can't truly expect the local branch of the manufacturer concerned to offer you a warranty on an item you bought second hand?
You really have to choose between buying brand new in the UK (from a retailer) and buying abroad from a private seller. The former will obviously provide far more consumer protection.
I assume you made a substantial cost saving by purchasing this item? If so, then the lack of warranty was one of the reasons. If not, then why make the purchase abroad at all?0 -

I wrote 'as new', to describe the condition, not 'new'.
I understand that warranties are not a legal requirement, but they are factored into the price by a retailer or manufacturer in the cost price, hence when you buy an item from J.Lewis' you'll pay top dollar happily, or you may choose to buy a reputable higher priced brand over an equal quality cheaper item.
The item wasn't available in that specification from Lenovo at the time of purchase, the 512/16GB model was made available in the UK at a later date.
There is not a 'lack of warranty', an international service warranty is on the item (not the owner)0 -

As I said, you really need to be choosing which you want; the full cover of the law provided by buying new in this country or a (spurious) "international service warranty".
Was the specification THAT attractive that you could not wait until it became available here?0
