0% Balance Transfer cards

I have a few 0% on purchases cards which I plan to transfer to 0% balance transfer cards when the introductory rate is up.

How far in advance would people recommend that I apply for the new 0% balance transfer cards?

Most card providers will only let you transfer the balance (for 0%) within a certain amount of days of activating your new card, my Tesco one was 60 days.

My cards don't run out for ages yet. I was just wondering how far in advance of my 0% purchases cards running out should I apply for the 0% balance transfer cards to avoid paying any interest.

Maybe apply 6 weeks or so before your current 0% offers expire, that will give time for the checks to be done..

you need to allow time for cards to arrive in the post as sometimes they need to be activated before BTs are completed. You might also be asked to provide ID in person. At least 4 weeks as a minimum.
Don't forget that the 0% period will probably not align with the statement date.

I managed to open a Tesco balance transfer card and complete the balance transfer in 12/13 days (8/9 working days). As per the suggestions above though, 6 weeks is the amount of time I'm going to give myself next time.

I've just applied for a new BT card as my current 0% deal ends in Dec-16.

Applied Tuesday, recieved paperwork yesterday, posted back today.

My theory being, all being well, I will have the card activated and ready to use by 1st Dec.
