I hoped could share thoughts and idears in early process of Kitchen Design.
Any advice appreciated. Reccomended materials ect appreciated. Share good bad choices when Design kitchens. What recommend to consider.
This is my parents, our longtime family home , my mum would only need a small under counter fridge with small freezer but is a big family home that may sell to downsize in future. So need to consider what they may want. There is a possibility of a pantry directly off the kitchen where a full or American family size freezer could go. Or should a space be made for family fridge in kitchen but will loose the storage. Really appreciate kindly Sharing idears\preferences?
Looking at the handleless light cream or white. Looking at Electric Eye level cooker. Previously and still have the range cooker.
Washing machine will be going in separate utility area. Dishwasher would go under kitchen sink.

You can plan and design and move around new or existing appliances on the Ikea website, by using their on line planning tool.
It's a bit fiddly at first, but actually works quite well. Also it will price the kitchen, as you do it.
Costs nothing to do it and you dont get any sales people after your order!

It's a bit tricky with no plan of current services or even dimensions to work from.
Islands are popular at the moment, the bigger the better. This can be useful particularly if you have a large square kitchen where if everything is against the walls there's a big gap in the middle, useful only for dancing.
I would love an eye level oven again - its what I fitted in my last kitchen. I have a range cooker at the new house which is ok but I'd prefer a high one. Ranges are in fashion just now.
I do recommend an induction hob, however. I really like mine, it heats up quickly and is very easy to control, unlike a standard electric hob. I always preferred gas but the induction on is soooo easy to clean, literally just wipe it, it's great.0 -
Look at options for fitting out cabinets with pull-out trays, baskets, inner drawers to make items easier to get at, miles better than the default cabinet. Might be more cost effective to buy and fit these yourselves afterwards.
Generally I think drawers are better than cabinets and shelves, particularly if accessibility is a factor.
The magic corner units which are like mechanical linked shelves for using the space in corner cupboards are good - save you from reaching around on you knees to get at stuff in the inaccessible part.
For long term running costs, gas is less than one third the cost of electric, so if you're cooking and baking regularly personally I'd go for a gas cooker over electric0 -
Hoploz Thankyou for replying.
I can go with electric or gas re services. Appreciate very difficult no plan or dimensions to work from.
Not sure a Island would work unfortunately and not square space.
I am really favoring electric eye level oven and really favoring induction that safety, heats up quickly and is very easy to control and clean.
Still have range cooker but all gas and Ranges are in fashion just now, confused.0 -
