Cancelled order but still received it.

I recently ordered a product from an online retailer but later decided I did not want it and cancelled the item. I received my money back and assumed that would be the end of the matter. But last week it was delivered to my house. I was wondering what my rights are here. Do I have a legal obligation to email the company back (and as a result will they force me to pay for the delivery charge) or am I allowed to just keep the product?

Sometimes a cancellation from the customer isn't quick enough to prevent the item being dispatched.

Let the company know it has arrived and ask them to send a prepaid label for it's return.

No you cant keep the product and yes you do have to inform them that its been delivered to you in error. They cant make you pay for the return postage though. They need to either arrange a collection themselves or send you a reterns label for it.

They may say you can keep it. Its happened to me a couple of times (although in both cases it was an incorrect item delivered so was of no use to me either).

They are entitled to chase you for up to 6 years. Get in touch and ask them to arrange a collection with you.
