Apple Pay - what's the biggest amount you've been able to do?

  • On the back of the contactless thread i made i was wondering about this.

Am i right in thinking contactless is £30 across the board?

I read that for the TSB 5% cashback you will still get this if you use Apple Pay, since it's contactless but i also read somewhere that there's no set amount as the highest you can get away with using Apple Pay, which suggests it can be higher than £30 but who knows what up to.

So just wondered what the max is you've used Apple Pay successfully for?

I used Apple Pay for just under £100 in Waitrose. Barclays told me that there is no limit but certain retailers do impose one.

Apple Pay contactless is limited to £30 - and don't forget TSB cashback is just on the first £100 each month.
It depends on the shop. Plenty of shops don't have a £30 limit. Boots, Waitrose, Apple, M&S are examples of unlimited (well, limited by the limit on your card). Even my small independent hairdresser, and the local Off Licence allows unlimited.

I've been told (by a shop employee) that Apple Pay contactless is available up to your daily cash withdrawal limit at an ATM. And in one lump.
spend not limited to ATM limit. See above.
    I wonder if TSB are restricted to £30 ... until 1st January 2017 ;)
They are not. I have been buying £100 vouchers at Waitrose and M&S with 4 different TSB debit cards each month since the offer started.

My highest purchase was in excess of £1,100 at Apple, paid with my Apple Watch, using a Santander credit card. I also paid several hundred for some glasses at Boots, again with my watch, using a Nationwide credit card. That Nationwide card doesn't even have a contactless symbol on it. I am not sure whether it works as a normal contactless card, I never tried.
