I have lots of high interest accounts with money spread around.
I set up standing orders to move money around to meet min pay in criteria.
I ran out of direct debits (most need 2 per month), so I went onto cancer research and set up ddr`s for 50p from any accounts needed.
WIN, WIN. I get interest, and a small donation to charity

If you are only giving 50pences to a charity they probably pay that in admin alone and actually get zilch.
As You have lots of high interest a/cs (as you say) perhaps be a bit more generous to charity? Quite a few advertise for a £2 donation per month eg- Wateraid, Save the children & Christian Aid. That's what I do (but think mine are £3) plus Mr T savings for £1
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Those using Paypal DD's, when paying for something, can you still elect to pay by CC or does paypal always default to collecting via DD?

It defaults to a DD, but you can override to a CC if you prefer.

Note: There is no need to purchase anything in order to get a DD pulled from your current account.

I always see this said whenever small charity direct debit payments are mentioned, however I would cite GoCardless as a business who anyone can use, and they charge a penny on a £1 DD (or 1%).

In the absence of any evidence to say that they're making some sort of huge loss, I can only conclude that the belief that DD's cost a lot to operate is not accurate.

I have actually read the preceding posts including the long ones and now I'm pretty much brain dead. Oh hold on if I know I'm brain dead then I can't be brain dead. What was it I wanted to say ... er ... hmmm ... oh forget it ... oh yeah ... These days after a review this month I have only one bank current account and two savings accounts, notice and instant access. So I don't have the problem of keeping track.
