Mucky fat is still cheap round this way.0

I await the first marmite scandal, when they find the producers have been diluting it with boot polish.
(Not that anyone would notice)0 -
I'll be making my own Marmite.

Marmite is one of a tiny handful of products which is definitely superior to the supermarket own version, IMO, and thus one of the few branded items I regularly buy. It is rarely ever on offer though so is always a bit of a luxury.
I wonder how many shoppers there still are whose trolley is solely filled with branded products? With the success of Aldi/Lidl I think brand loyalty is on the wane, except for the odd few exceptions. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

The success of Aldi and Lidl is down to branding. People associate them with competitively priced acceptable products. Aldi/ Lidl recognise the value that brands can add which is why their packaging designs[STRIKE] rips off[/STRIKE] 'pays tribute' to the designs of the brands.
..and to keep on track. Marmite 250g is £2.35 in Aldi the same as everywhere else.0 -

I am a slatherer of Marmite and have high blood pressure so I go for Sainsburys low salt version, having had Marmite for the last 44 years I can't tell the difference between the two."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
So, who's side are we on. The manufacturers of marmite, or the purveyors of marmite......i.e., Unilever, or Tesco?.......I ask you.
It's a pigging publicity stunt, just like the 'so called' terror clowns.
Just for the record, I'm a Marmiteista, spread thin, on nice medium sliced toast, WITH BUTTER, NOT SPREAD..._
The publicity stunt worked on me! Dug the marmite out from the back of the cupboard last week and been addicted since (on fresh home-made bread with butter).
Bought my Unilever shares in August last year at £25.80 per share and currently trading at £34.80, with a healthy dividend to boot, so no prizes for guessing whose side I am on!0 -
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/nov/07/price-of-20-unilever-products-up-by-average-of-57-since-brexit-voteThe price of a basket of 20 Unilever products, including Hellman’s mayonnaise, Carte D’Or ice cream and Comfort fabric conditioner has risen by an average of 5.7% across the UK’s major supermarkets since the Brexit vote, as the pound’s post-referendum struggles feed through to shop shelves.
Marmite is keeping that figure down. The Asda deal at £2.00 for 250ml is market leading plus, every journalist and his dog will be watching marmite prices.0 -
