It doesn't always work.Quizzical_Squirrel wrote: »She thinks the TV exposure sold her house.
We viewed one of the 'Escape to the Country' properties. It was not as up-together as they made it look on TV, so quite a few had rejected it by the time we arrived on the scene.
We rejected it too, but not for the same reasons. During our viewing, the vendor revealed that the recent price drop was being funded by selling the best bit of garden to the next door neighbour.
That sort of thing never seems to happen on Location x3 !!0 -
If they don't make you sign a contract to accept one of their offerings on screen or off, what do you have to lose? Politely decline all three as many do. How much would you pay for two experts - they are after all - to accompany you around and help locate properties in your budget?
Just make sure other half has best teeth in on the day.0 -
If you do go for it, do remember to keep us all updated and tell us all about it :-)0

Just make sure they don't bully you into putting an offer in - that's their cherry on the cake when they can do that on the telly .... but if you keep listening you'll find a lot of those people pulled out, so clearly felt pressurised to choose one of the houses they were shown.0

Tell Kirsty to stop sitting on beds during viewings. So rude.0

Don't buy anything Kirsty recommends and expect to move in immediately. You'll have to wait until she's knocked the kitchen wall through and made some patchwork knick-knacks for the shelf above the Aga.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Definitely go for it.

If you don't mind being made to look silly on TV then go for it.
They may edit the show to make you look arrogant or fussy or quirky. You'd have to be prepared for thatChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Just look at it as a bit of fun - you are likely to need to do a variety of telephone interviews and screen tests before your place on the show is confirmed. At the beginning of this year we applied to go on a new House renovations show. The production company contacted us - undertook multiple interviews about our project and a couple of screen tests. All the while we were being told how perfect our project was for their programme and how brilliant we "looked". In the end - they never contacted us again - so although we got all excited for a while - no 5 minutes of fame for us!
Good luck and have fun - they may find you the perfect house - on the other hand it may be a waste of time but whatever the outcome its likely to be an experience you will remember.0 -
Gore Vidal said there are two things you should always say yes to. One is being on the telly, and if you're pregnant you've already said yes to the other.0
