    Why haven't the council processed your HB claim? They can pay it on nil income.


    Two months sounds like a very long time to have a HB claim outstanding, they will have probably lapsed it by now.

    I don't know why it is taking so long. It hasn't lapsed as my husband spoke to them on the phone. They wanted more information from us so sent out a load more forms for us to fill in about our self employment. There was a delay in them getting to us.

    Some councils have long backlogs due to staff shortages - but that's no excuse for not letting you know the current situation

    You need to contact the council and ask what information they need regarding both self-employments - letters/forms going back and forth create further delays so ask over the telephone if you can

    If your husband has returned to work all your household income is taken into account - but that doesn't mean you still can't claim - you can
