Did anyone take on this offer? I received my letter last week after a year exactly from starting to use regularly my account with them (opened in 1999 as secondary account, semi dormant since 2009), and converting it to Club Lloyds.0

No I didn't. I've only got two accounts with them anymore, a Club Lloyds and an ordinary current account. When the interest dried up I moved most of the monies to other bankers. Can't see why they wrote to me, especially as I'm now 300 miles from my 'own' branch.
I saw it a selling opportunity.0 -
I've had a Barclays "Premier Account Manager" (same thing) for about 7 years now. The initial consultation is a polite soft sell opportunity and a chance for them to measure you up.
Once they see that you shop around and manage your own investments they know you'll see straight through the poor value their services generally offer and leave you alone.
My Barclays Premier account stands at £0.00 and is only there to get the free English Heritage family membership they offer and the odd discount on dining out.
That said if I ever do fancy investing £1m in a "premier" 2 year savings bond that pays a whopping 0.8% then I'm sorted! :rotfl:
Oh and the £2k daily cash machine limit that I guess makes you a far better extortion target or could be useful if you have an expensive drug habit.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

Yesterday I got letters giving me 60 days notice of account closure - it seems I wasn't so special to them after all!
On what grounds are they closing your account?!0 -
We've had an account manager for our Barclays business account for 6 years. They were originally based in Kent, then we were informed that they were in Leicester. We're in West Yorkshire. They've never rung us, we've never rung them.
I've only even been into a branch once, and that was the day I went to enquire about opening the account. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Business accounts are a different thing though. It definitely helps if you need a business loan, want to do export/international trades etc, when someone at the bank really knows you.0

I use to have one with Lloyds because in their eyes I was a special customer.
Not sure why but she has long gone.
Oh no it appears I am a valued customer again. Received a letter this very day advising I have been assigned a Customer Relationship Manager. I do not normally bother them and the same applies with Lloyds. I enjoy this arrangement and would like to keep it like that.0
