That's the thing. We all look back and wish we started earlier.
Ah well, at least we are doing something about it now.

Hi everyone! Hope you're ok? Haven't updated for a week as nothing new to report but today I made an overpayment on the mortgage of £271.62 which takes our mortgage to the new total of £69,600.00. I'm really pleased as it means over the month from when OH got paid on the 20/10/16 to when he gets paid on Friday 18/11/16 we have made overpayments totalling £560.22! We do have a limit of paying 10% of the mortgage every year so when our fixed rate ends in 2018 we'll have to look at shortening the term so we don't get charged any early repayment fees. (I'm sure I heard ages ago that they were scrapping early repayment charges?? Is this true or did I just dream it? lol!)
I've also claimed £10 from one of my survey sites and a £15 amazon voucher from another so both of these will go to finishing my christmas shopping!
Have a lovely evening!

Hi madvix! Yeah I've pretty much finished and wrapped them all as well! I just wanted to get it over and done with but also spread the cost over a few months, so I set up a spreadsheet and I've done all of it online. I think I'll definitely do it this early again next year because it has taken alot of stress out of it.
I think I must have just dreamed up the end of ERCs, wishful thinking! lol!
Thanks, I'm really pleased, and it's giving me the motivation to keep going! xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Well not a great weekend really, my mum's been having dizzy spells so she's now having tests at the doctors to see if this is to do with her MS or just some sort of bug/sinus infection. I met my closest friend and her son for brunch on Saturday which was nice and only cost £5 but she broke the news that they are putting their house up for sale and are moving from Yokshire down to Northampton! I completely support her desicion as she has to do what is best for her family but she is really my closest friend and the only one I really have up here (apart from OH) since I moved here 11 years ago. I have had some people that I thought were friends but turned out to be people that are only interested in being friends when it suits and benefits them which has really knocked my confidence! This news has led to my credit card taking a bit of a beating! I spent money on takeaways, new collars for the dogs (which they don't really need but they were christmassy collars) and ordered trees and plants for my garden. I know that sounds abit weird but I love gardening and my garden so when I'm down I don't buy shoes or handbags, I buy gardening supplies! Lol! OH says I need to start going out more so when BFF does move I will be able to deal with it. I know he's right but I'm so into paying off the mortgage I begrudge having to spend money on a new hobby or doing a class in the hope I might meet some new friends! Anyway rant over and if you have read through this essay, thank you so much!!!
On a plus note I'm still getting under £100 for my fortnightly shop which is helping to make an extra overpayment of £100 a month!
Hope you all have a great day despite the miserable weather!

Well back on track today as I've made an overpayment of £100 so the new total is £69,500.00. OH gets paid early in December so only three weeks before he gets paid again and I'm hoping to make another overpayment before he does. He usually gets a bonus at Christmas so we're crossing our fingers and hoping he does again this year. If he does we should get more of it this year because we got the marriage allowance sorted earlier in the year so his tax code has been changed.
Anyway time to get some surveys done!
Have a great day everyone!
